Indian Motorcycle

In 1953 Indian Motorcycles had to halt production due to low sales. It would not be until 1999 when Indian's were back on the market and even then it would take some legal work to get them there.
Indian then merged with the American Indian Motorcycle Company, the California Motorcycle Company, and six other companies to form the second largest producers of heavy cruisers in North America. Indian started building a limited edition motorcycle that year that is worth quite a lot of money today.
Even if you are not a huge fan of Indian's you must know that they have revolutionized some products that are important in the biking community. Indian introduced the largest OEM motorcycle engine that was both designed and built in America to date. Indian's that are made to the highest of standards.

Indian Ahief Motorcycle

The Chief. The Scout. The Spirit. The names are legendary. Deeply valanced fenders. The Indian head-dress logo. Deep red paint. The styling cues are unforgettable. Once there were two proud competitors vying for supremacy in the American-made heavyweight cruiser market, icons in the American cruiser scene. One has withstood the tests of time. The other has fallen victim to a carnivorous business world where mismanagement and financial woes spell certain doom. But the return of Indian Motorcycles is nigh, and the ghosts of George M. Hendee and Carl Oscar Hedstrom are restless, awaiting the resurrection of the motorcycle company they made famous.

Expect to see the Indian Chief rolling down a roadway near you late in the Fall of 2007. So says Chairman of Indian Motorcycles, Stephen Julius, who recently granted MotorcycleUSA an exclusive interview.

Besides serving as chairman for Indian Motorcycles, Julius is a managing partner for the private equity firm, Stellican Limited. Stellican Limited bought the rights to Indian in July of 2004. The firm has a history of bringing back iconic heritage brands balancing on the fringes of obscurity and returning them to a prosperous, competitive state. Stellican did it with Chris-Craft boats. They brought the Italian yacht manufacturer Riva back to respectability. They even kick-started Vicenza, a soccer team in the Italian Premier League. Now Stellican has its sights set on defibrillating the flatlined Indian Motorcycle Company and sparking life into one of the most recognizable names in American motorcycling history.

The Fury radiates attitude and delivers a total riding experience approaching the outer limits of motorcycling.

The Fury opens the door to the most extreme level of custom looks. But once you're rolling, the Fury experience is all about that special bond between rider and machine: the unmistakable big V-twin pulse, the characteristic Vee engine note and the no-nonsense riding stance bring you back to the core elements of riding.

Destined to become a milestone machine, the Fury captures the pure, undiluted chopper essence, places it within easy reach of nearly every rider and then backs it up with the same quality and reliability built into every Honda. It's a radical concept in a unique package, a combination never before offered-until today.

  • Powerful 1312cc, 52-degree V-twin engine with a single-pin crankshaft and dual balancers has plenty of torque and the feel only a V-twin can deliver
  • Forget about fidding with a choke - the Fury's new fuel injection system means no-hassle startups on cold mornings or at high altitudes
  • The shaft final drive is quiet, clean, and has been uniquely integrated into the overall design
  • The Fury is one of the most authentic, radically styled custom motorcycle that Honda has ever produced, featuring an ingenious single-shock rear suspension system with an aluminum swingarm
  • A raked-out front and condensed, hard-tail look to the rear end; and a stretched wheelbase. And that long wheelbase is no illusion - the Fury stretches a full 71.2 inches between axles
  • A fat 200-series rear tire is paired with a slim 21-inch front wheel, both wrapped around distinctive alloy wheels
  • A newly designed exhaust system and new camshafts also add to the unique V-twin sound and power-pulse sensations
  • A single powerful 336mm-diameter front disc brake is complemented by a 296mm brake disc in back. An ABS version will also be available
  • The Fury's super-low 26.7-inch seat height is an integral design element that fits in behind the slim and long fuel tank
